How to Improve Your Audio Quality for TikTok Videos

Poor audio can make users scroll away instantly. Here's how to ensure your audio is top-notch.
1. Get Closer to the Mic
Your phone's built-in microphone is surprisingly good, but only at close range. The further you are from your phone, the more echo and background noise it will pick up. For voiceovers, speak directly into the bottom of your phone.
2. Film in a 'Soft' Room
Hard surfaces like tile floors and bare walls create a lot of echo. Film in a room with soft surfaces like a carpet, curtains, a bed, or a couch. These absorb sound and reduce echo, making your voice sound much cleaner.
3. Use an External Microphone
The best budget upgrade for audio is a simple lavalier microphone (a 'lav mic'). You can buy one that plugs directly into your phone's charging port for a very low price. Clipping a lav mic to your shirt will give you consistently clear audio, even if you are far from the camera.
